New Restaurants, Stores Open Near Highland Woods, Bank on the Way

6 May 2009 3 Comments

Good news for homeowners at Highlands Woods in Elgin: A collection of restaurants, stores and soon even a bank have recently opened at the corner of Rt. 20 and Nesler Road. This area has been rapidly developing lately and now residents can pick up a coffee and donut on the way to work, drop off their dry cleaning, make an appointment with a local dentist and choose from at least three restaurants for lunch, dinner or to pick up something to take home. Here’s the info on two of these new businesses — be sure to stop and say “welcome, neighbor!”

macianosMaciano’s Pizza and Pastaria
Now open on Rt. 20 in the Galleria of Elgin, just east of Nesler Road, Maciano’s Pizza and Pastaria serves authentic Italian food and wine in a quaint atmosphere. Their new Elgin restaurant is their seventh, with the others sprinkled throughout the west and southwest suburban areas from Shorewood all the way to Rockford.

The restaurant is open from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day and they deliver to all addresses in and around Elgin. Their phone number is 847-697-1400 or you can visit their site at www.macianos.com. For coupons, click here. Also, to register online and receive 20% off your first online offer, simply click here.

sammysSammy’s Mexican Grill
This casual sit down and carry out authentic Mexican restaurant opened to rave reviews in November, 2008.  It’s located in the Galleria of Elgin, just steps from Maciano’s Pizza and Pasteria.

We’ve been told the pork is excellent, and that the owner’s husband is always walking around, making sure everyone’s pleased. But before you bring the family, click on this link for special coupons. Oh, and tell them we sent you. They’d love to hear how the community is supporting them.

The only problem with this location is that there’s no way to get in to the property if you’re heading west on HWY 20! Sammy’s is great, haven’t been to Maciano’s yet.

    Erica,

I agree about the trouble with access — though it looks like there’s going to be access once the new bank on the corner of Rt. 20 and Nesler gets completed. Little by little, we’re getting more and more out by our community.
